Superintendent

Vulcan Construction is in search of an experienced skilled Superintendent to join our team. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as have strong communication and coordinating abilities. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact on the job site and will be working closely with the client, building management, Vulcan project team and subcontractors. Most importantly they will be responsible for overseeing the daily construction activities and coordinating the construction schedule to meet deadlines for a successful completion of the project.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct day to day, onsite supervision of subcontractor labor force
  • Maintain professional relationships with client, customers, contractors, suppliers and colleagues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internal and external
  • Possess excellent customer service both in person and over the phone
  • Ability to work well under pressure and work efficiently against deadlines
  • Ability to listen, take direction, and resolve issues with a sense of urgency, and ability to articulate clearly when communicating with others
  • Manage the field personnel and all activities according to the schedule through project completion
  • Coordinate site testing and building Inspections with city agencies
  • Manage and update project schedule to all subcontractors and project team
  • Ability to forecast scheduling subcontractor and preparing a three week look ahead for client
  • Ensure all activities take place on or ahead of schedule
  • Ensure the highest quality workmanship is provided
  • Develop a thorough understanding of project drawings and specifications
  • Review, verify or generate all (RFIs)
  • Prepare daily briefing memos
  • Conduct weekly onsite meeting or conference call
  • Completes in progress checklist every two weeks
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable safety regulations (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA)
  • Ensure an Injury-Free Environment promote jobsite safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards meets or exceeds OSHA safety standards
  • Hold subcontractors responsible for their debris and unsafe work practices
  • Maintains redlines throughout project and turn them in to the Project Coordinator at the end of the job

REQUIRED

  • Minimum 4 years of verifiable experience running projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Great management techniques
  • Organization skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Experience in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe, and Procore

EDUCATION

  • Required High School diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred – Associates degree or other extended education in construction management

LICENESES & CERTIFICATES

  • Valid driver’s license and clean DMV driving record.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (Preferred)
  • CPR & First Aid certification (Preferred)
